What Nobody Told You About You!

Birthday Toyosi olorundare

Today, as I mark another year of life, I find myself reflecting deeply on the journey so far—on the things no one told me, but life gradually revealed. Over the years, I’ve come to realize that there’s far more to us as human beings than meets the eye. We are layered and complex, shaped by experiences, thoughts, and a deeper spiritual essence that often goes unnoticed. It’s become clear to me that growth is not just about age or achievement, but about understanding the true structure of who we are.

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that the mind is far more powerful than we think. Sadly, it’s one of the most underrated parts of who we are. The way we think—our thoughts, beliefs, and expectations—sets the tone for the life we live. Many times, we shrink our possibilities out of fear or doubt, not realizing that the mind is designed to work with whatever we feed it. If we feed it fear, it grows fear. If we feed it vision, it expands into something extraordinary. The mind doesn’t resist; it responds. And that response can either propel us forward or hold us back.

Another truth I’ve come to hold dear is the value of the soul. The soul is not just a spiritual idea—it is the core of who we are. All the struggles, the highs and lows, the search for meaning, all revolve around the condition of the soul. When life feels chaotic or directionless, it’s often because the soul is unsettled or unheard. Yet, we rarely tend to this part of ourselves. We pour energy into careers, relationships, and appearances, but forget that peace and purpose come from within. A nourished soul shines through everything else.

Ironically, the part of us that receives the most attention—our physical body—is the least of who we are. There’s nothing wrong with taking care of it, but the danger lies in giving it more value than it deserves. In a world that constantly praises appearance and status, it’s easy to neglect the parts of ourselves that truly matter. Our flesh may carry us, but it cannot define us. When we invest in our spirit and mind with the same enthusiasm we give to our looks or possessions, we begin to live from a place of real strength and authenticity.

So, on this birthday, I celebrate more than just another year—I celebrate growth in awareness, in truth, and in self-discovery. I am learning that life becomes richer when we embrace our unseen strengths and realign with what truly matters. If there’s one gift I’d love to share with others today, it’s this: don’t overlook the power of your mind, the value of your soul, and the truth that you are much more than your body. There’s a depth to you that the world needs to see—start living from that place.
